One operation, five ways in. Agents carry the books. Couriers run the routes. Quartermasters arm the field. Station Chiefs hold territory. And above it all — the Hundred.
One book, hand-delivered by you to a place where someone is having the worst day of their year. Before you begin, you name one person you love; when your drop is confirmed, they receive an audiobook in your honor. Your pack includes six Field Tags — authorization to send any book traveling — and one year of active service on the roster.
“I ran one mission. A book I sent is sitting in a hospice tonight.”
Couriers put twenty-five books into the operation — twelve placed by hand where hard hours are spent, and thirteen given digitally to people who need them. You choose the destination with HQ, and the debrief comes back with photos of every placement on your route.
“I run a route. My books cover the cardiac wing.”
Agents and Couriers can’t move what doesn’t exist. Quartermasters fund the print runs and inventory that supply every mission in the field. When new stock arms the roster, it moves under your commission — and your reports show exactly where it went.
“We don’t run missions. We arm the people who do.”
A Station Chief underwrites an entire zone for a year — a hospital system, a county, a network of care sites. Every book placed in that territory moves because of you, and everyone who finds one finds your name beside it.
“Our company runs this county’s station. Every book placed here moves because of us.”
At the top of the operation there are no ranks left — only the Hundred: the holders of the one hundred numbered Shadow Edition volumes that fund the entire underground. Inside each volume, the Compassion Registry traces every book your number set in motion. Your console watches them travel for life.
“I’m Number 34.”
Every rank does the same thing:
it puts a book in someone’s hands on their worst day.
