The Quarterly Letter

Winter 2026

January · February · March

Some seasons don't arrive to give answers.
They arrive to quiet the noise.

A Letter from Robert

(and sometimes, Laurie)

This winter has felt quieter than I expected—not empty, just unhurried. The kind of quiet that doesn't ask you to do more, only to notice what's already here.

Much of my work this season has been about resisting the instinct to explain. To fix. To wrap meaning in something that feels finished. Laurie and I have found ourselves returning to the same conversation again and again: how often the most important things in our lives don't announce themselves. They arrive softly, and if we're not paying attention, they pass right through.

A few weeks ago, a reader wrote to say that one of the books didn't resolve anything for them. It just stayed. That line has stayed with me. It felt like a reminder of why these stories exist in the first place—not to convince or convert, but to keep company.

As we move deeper into the season, I hope you're finding moments of presence where you didn't expect them. And if not, I hope you're being gentle with yourself about that too.

— Robert

The Glimpse Moment

A Seasonal Reflection

Winter simplifies the world in ways we don't always welcome. Leaves fall. Light thins. The noise we once used to distract ourselves grows quieter, and what remains can feel stark.

But simplicity is not absence. It's attention.

When the landscape strips itself back, we begin to notice what holds. The tree that still stands. The house that keeps its warmth. The questions that remain even when the answers fall away.

Perhaps this season is not withholding clarity, but protecting something fragile until it's ready. Perhaps the quiet isn't a problem to solve, but a space to inhabit.

What in your life is still here—even now—asking only to be noticed?

Behind the Pages

GLIMPSE

A Novel — Coming Spring 2026

This spring, we're releasing a novel called GLIMPSE—a story about an investigative journalist who discovers an AI that responds only to spiritual questions. Not with answers. With presence.

The book began with a suspicion rather than a premise: that many people aren't looking for answers at all. They're looking for permission.

Permission to ask the question they've been carrying without being corrected. Without being hurried toward certainty. Without being told what it should mean.

While writing the book, I kept returning to the tension between presence and explanation. I wasn't interested in proving anything. I was interested in what happens when a question is met with attention instead of instruction.

There's a scene I almost cut—quiet, easily overlooked—that ultimately became central for me. Not because it advanced the plot, but because it refused to. It simply stayed with the question a little longer than felt comfortable.

That, I realized, might be the heart of the story.

A Small Gift

Later this month, I'll be sharing something I wrote for Laurie's birthday—a story called The Cake Doctor. It began as a private gift and became something I realized others might need too. More soon.

Reader Spotlight

"This book didn't explain anything—and somehow that's why it stayed with me."
