One mission. Two lives touched — a stranger you may never meet, and someone you love.

Somewhere near you is a waiting room with bad magazines and someone in it having the worst day of their life. We can’t fix that. We can put a book on the table.

How the mission works

1 You place one book. Your mission book arrives with a coded tag inside the cover. You take it somewhere hard hours are spent — a hospice waiting room, a hospital chapel, a free library box — and you leave it there, or you hand it to someone directly. Both count. Both are the job. Photograph it and you’re done.

2 Someone you love is lifted. Before your mission begins you name one person carrying something heavy. The moment your placement is confirmed, they receive an audiobook from our library — in your honour, with a note saying it exists because of a good thing you just did.

3 Your book goes on the Wall. The Wall is our public record of every book given away — listed beside your call sign, the name HQ issues you when you enlist. If someone who finds the book later scans the tag, their note joins the record too. Most never will, and that’s all right; the ones who do are the best mail we get.

That’s the whole role, and it’s Level 1 of something larger. Agents serve one year of active status, and when sponsors fund new books for the field, active Agents are offered missions first. Read the full briefing, or see every rank.
