One mission. Two lives touched — a stranger you may never meet, and someone you love.
Here is the whole idea. You join. HQ sends you a book, a number, and a call sign. We tell you what kind of place needs it — a waiting room, a chapel, a laundromat, a bench. You take the book there.
What happens next is your call. You can leave it somewhere it will be found, quietly, and slip out. Or you can see someone who looks like they need it, hand it over, and say almost nothing. Both are the mission. We have no preference.
Then you take a photograph, and you’re done.
The second half is the part we didn’t expect to matter as much as it does. When you enlist, you name one person you love. When your mission is confirmed, an audiobook goes to them, from you. One book to a stranger, one to someone you’d choose. That’s the shape of it.
Your kit: the mission book with its tracking sticker already on it, your Shadow Agent ID card, a Mission Brief, and six spare field stickers. Those last ones are yours to use however you like — on our books or on your own shelf. Anything you send out into the world counts.
It costs $59, and it will cost you an afternoon. We’d rather say that plainly than dress it up. You stay on the active roster for a year, and every so often a courier will have books that need moving. You can say yes or no.
There are one hundred numbers. Ninety-nine are unassigned.
