The one others turn to for wisdom.
The Elder is the person others come to when it matters.
Not because of age — because of depth. The Elder has lived enough, lost enough, and learned enough to see what younger eyes can't. They've stopped needing to prove anything, and that stillness is exactly why people seek them out. An Elder doesn't have to raise their voice to be heard. Their presence is the teaching.
Elders are how wisdom survives. They carry what was learned the hard way and hand it forward so others don't have to start from nothing. They think in legacy — what remains, what's passed on, what a life will have meant. They are, quietly, the people a community can't do without.
If something in you sat up a little reading that — if people have started coming to you for the long view, and you've felt the pull toward what you'll leave behind — there's a reason. The Elder isn't a mood or a quiz result. It's a pattern in how you've actually lived.
But your role is only half the picture.
Every Elder is somewhere — at the start of something, in the middle of a crossing, or deep in the work of tending what's already alive. The season changes what the role means.
